2. Do not put tape or stickers on the packaging. Even removable stickers/tape can leave a stain on the box.
3. Do not take the coins out of their capsules. This will have the most damaging effect to the value of your coins.
4. Do not smash or tear the boxes.

Two pieces of legislation intended to repeal or revise the new 1099 law were recently put in front of the U.S. Senate and both were voted down. Both Utah Sentators, Senator Orrin Hatch and Senator Bob Bennett voted to repeal the law in both cases, but their votes were in the minority.
Thank you for your efforts,

Hello Everybody! We have received many concerned calls and visits regarding new 1099 regulations that were quietly passed through the house & the senate within the health care reform bill. The new regulation will require businesses to file a 1099 for every purchase of $600 or more and the law will go into effect in 2012. Many people are concerned about this law, and for good reason. This law will affect every business, and will do so negatively.
If you are concerned about this law, we urge you to contact your elected US Senators and Representatives. Please feel free to use the form letter that I have provided below.
Contact Orrin Hatch
Contact Bob Bennett
Contact Jason Chaffetz
Contact Jim Matheson
Contact Rob Bishop
I am very concerned over a provision that was placed deep within the recent health care legislation. The provision that I am referring to is about IRS 1099 forms. This provision, which will be enforced in 2012, requires all businesses to report all purchases of $600.00 or more, dramatically increasing the amount of tedious paperwork required from businesses. This will affect nearly all businesses negatively and it will force many small businesses to hire at least one more employee, an expense that many cannot afford.
Rep. Dan Lungren has introduced HR 5141 to repeal the new 1099 requirement and I encourage you to support his legislation. HR 5141 will save businesses from this crippling legislation imposed on them during already difficult times.Sincerely,

So, what is causing this "teeter-totter effect"? Many people are demanding answers, and plenty of theories are popping up around the internet. Perhaps the most talked about theory is the conspiracy theory which consists of the banks dumping metals whenever the markets goes up, in order to keep the markets low. If this is the case, the markets are so strong that they consistently fight back to regain their losses. Not only do the markets regain losses, but they are often rising higher.
Whatever the case, this market is active and hopping! Please come in whenever you are ready to jump in or jump out.

Yesterday was a very exciting day in the metals markets as gold peaked at 1263.50 and closed at a new all-time high of 1,257.50. This active metals market came following days of uncertainty in the market. During the first part of the week there was virtually nothing happening in any major markets and economies around the world. It was as if the world was holding its breath, just waiting to see what would happened next.
What happened next was a decline in American jobs, a weakening dollar, and more pessimistic outlooks regarding the BP Oil spill in the Gulf. All of these factors helped to push precious metals higher across the board as people grew wary of the economy and looked to commodities as a safe haven from the dollar and stock market. According to Kitco.com, Platinum rose 0.89%, Gold rose 0.91%, and Silver jumped a staggering 2.35%.
As of late, it has been clear that Silver has been the big mover in the precious metals market, often times moving twice as fast as gold.

Today brings premium changes for silver, making certain silver products a great buy! These premium changes are based on a wide range of factors, the most important being the availability of product. Products that are readily available will generally have a lower premium and be closer to spot and vice-versa.
Today's premium changes can be seen under the link at the top of the page that reads, "Click Here for Monarch's bullion quantity discount...". It will show that 100 oz. bars (Johnson Mathey), 90% silver coin, and 1 oz Silver Eagles have all dropped in premium to be closer to spot.
Just a heads up for everyone so that you all may know what silver products are currently being sold at a good price!

Hello all! It has been quite a while since last I blogged. I blame it mostly on how busy we have been lately and how maddening the markets have been! I might also have to accept some of the blame, although I don't want to very badly. :) I hope that everyone got to read about the benefits of 90% silver, as it really is a good way to purchase silver.
In coin news today, the US Mint announced that it is now producing fewer Silver Eagles. For the past few months we have all been enjoying the luxury of as many Silver Eagles as we want, but no longer. I have not yet heard if there is a reason behind this move, but it has resulted in higher premiums on Silver Eagles.
In other news, the newest Presidential Dollars, President Franklin Pierce, have been released and we have them in stock! They are $2 for singles and $35 for a roll. Get them while they're hot!
Stay tuned for further news regarding Silver Eagle production.

Hello all! Here at Monarch, we love 90% silver coin. Also known as "junk", this form of silver comes in dimes, quarters, and halves. Its benefits are outstanding and include price, use, and liquidity. We highly recommend to investors of metals products to add junk silver to their portfolio.
Low cost helps 90% silver coin gain popularity amongst investors and dealers alike. It is sold closer to spot than any other silver product. 90% silver coin is sold by the dollar face, which means 10 dimes, 4 quarters, and 2 halves and each dollar face contains approximately .715 oz of silver.
Many investors enter the commodities market with fears that the current economy may someday collapse and that the dollar may someday lose its value. They worry that one day in the future, they may need to use silver and gold to make purchases for necessities such as food, water, and other emergency supplies. 90% silver coin is ideal for this kind of investor as it would trade easily for small, inexpensive items such as milk, bread, eggs, etc.
It is this ability to be traded in small quantities that appeals to many people. For instance, if a person is in need of a small amount of cash, 90% silver coin can be broken down into small lots. It is also quite easy to store in large lots and to be traded in large quantities at a time, making it a liquid investment.
The main benefits that most investors see in 90% silver coin is its low price and its versatility. It is a great way to gather silver without paying a high price.
Come in to Monarch where we have 90% silver coin available for purchase!

There are many theories regarding gold & silver's sudden climb. Some harbor worries about Europe (Greece in particular), the oil spill, the uncertainty of the US economic recovery, and inflation.
Most recently, there has been word of an open federal investigation of JPMorgan & Chase. This investigation is centered around charges that the company has been fixing the price of silver. These accusations were published by the New York Post and the Post claims that JPMorgan fixed the silver market by flooding the market with silver when the spot price should have risen on account of economic developments, etc. These are serious allegations, as such actions are very illegal.
There are many people that believe Silver should be much higher than it currently is, and this accusation of JPMorgan fixing the market lends some credit to the belief.

First, please remember that we will be closed tomorrow, Saturday 17, due to extreme market fluctuations and the market being closed.
Current spot prices as of 3:30 pm:
The story begins with the minting of the Morgan Dollar, which was generally unpopular amongst the public. People were not really willing to carry around these dollar coins on account of their size and weight, so many of the Morgan Dollars minted were put in bags and shipped directly to the US Treasury, where they were held until 1964. It was at this point that the government began liquidating their silver dollars to the public in exchange for Silver Certificate Dollar Bills. During this exchange it was discovered that many Morgan Dollars that had been previously assumed to be rare, such as the 1903-O, were not actually rare at all. In fact, there were many 1903-O dollars being held in the Treasury! This new release of Morgan Dollars forced the coin industry to completely re-think its pricing structure in relation to Morgan Dollars.
After this month-long program closed, the Treasury still was holding thousands of bags of coins. It was at that point that the government decided to transfer custody of the coins to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). It was then that the GSA decided to package the remaining Morgan Dollars, which happened to mostly be Carson City Mints, and sell them using an auction format in 1979.
After all of this commotion, many of these GSA dollars reached the hands of coin dealers. Most of these dealers broke a great many of these dollars out of their GSA holders, as the holders did not add any extra value at the time. Many more were broken out so that the dollars could be sent in to PCGS or NGC, grading companies that opened shortly after the GSA dollars were released. This explains why the remaining supply of Morgan Dollars in their original GSA Holders is special and more difficult to find.
Some GSA Dollars have come to carry quite a premium if they are in their original boxes. One such coin, the 1890-CC, was once owned by Monarch Coin. Our very own President, Paul, distinctly remembers cracking an 1890-CC Morgan Dollar out of its GSA Holder, which turned out to be a $1,000 mistake!
Don’t forget to come by and check out our inventory of GSA Morgan Dollars! You can find a more complete account of the GSA Dollar history here.
